2009 – 2012 Organization Plan
HELPING MEN GROW IN CHRIST, SO THAT OTHERS MAY KNOW CHRIST!
1.0 Introduction and Overview
This plan contains the strategy for achieving the 2009-2012 organizations objectives which are in support of the ministry objectives outlined in the “Four Areas of Focus”. Those strategic objectives are:
1. Developing principled Christian leaders
2. New places for new people & renewal of existing congregations
3. Ministry to the poor
4. Global health
The focus of this organization plan is to:
1. Train UM Men leaders for ministry of Jesus Christ and train youth to be
effective leaders in church and community through Reaching Every Man
(REM) and No Man Left Behind (NMLB). www.manthemirror.org/nmlb
2. Awaken men, and build men spiritually as primary means to revive
congregations. Train clergy and lay leaders in courses developed for
effective discipleship in men through Wesleyan Building Brothers (WBB). www.buildingbrothers.org
3. Train UMM leaders to become advocates and friends of the poor, and
eliminate the effects of poverty and racism. Expand US hunger relief
efforts through the Society of St. Andrews. www.endhunger.org Support the children of
incarcerated parents through Amachi. www.amachimentoring.org Expand global hunger relief
through the World Methodist Council men’s affiliate and Stop Hunger
Now. www.stophungernow.org
4. Direct UM sponsored scouting troops in advocacy and fundraising for
Nothing But Nets. www.nothingbutnets.org Care for hearing impaired Haitian children through
Hope of Hearing. Continue anti-tobacco advocacy through Faith
United Against Tobacco. www.tobaccofreekids.org
Partnership: doing together what is impossible alone.
The United Methodist Men are committed to developing close working relations within and outside the UMC as ministry partners. We are building an extensive relational network that is mutually beneficial.
